Born on the Isle of Man and raised in Canada, Gemma began her yachting adventure in 2011 after a university classmate introduced her to life at sea. What started as a Junior Stew role on a 50m yacht in Mexico turned into nearly a decade-long career, culminating as Chief Stewardess on a busy 75m private/charter vessel.
After hanging up her epaulettes, she swapped life at sea for the quiet charm of the English countryside, where she now lives with her husband and their two mischievous rescue kittens. As the founder of TYS Recruitment and The Yacht Stew Academy, she’s passionate about supporting crew through every stage of their yachting journey.
When she’s not connecting with crew or creating training content, you’ll likely find her with her hands in the soil (she’s a new but devoted gardener), curled up with a book, experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, or unwinding with embroidery in hand.
